As the scale of space exploration expands, the integration of Human-Centered Design (HCD) into mission-critical environments is a baseline requirement for success. We transition from machine-centric engineering to a comprehensive design process that optimizes the physical interface between the operator and their surroundings. We focus on the systems that drive astronaut health and operational efficacy in a crewed vehicles, a pressurized habitats, or the new thing you are working on.

Polymotions implements a dual prototyping process that bridges the gap between the physiological requirements of the crew and the limitations of testing on Earth. We facilitate the interdisciplinary collaboration required among industrial design, ergonomics, and engineering to set new standards for human-system integration. By optimizing the tactile and spatial environments, we transform technical systems into responsive interfaces that support the mission.

Interdisciplinary Research

We conduct deep-dive literature reviews and field research to ground every concept in reality. We identify the needs and risks based on lessons learned and map usability and performance expectations based on our insights and the requirements for the project.

Human factors and testing

We analyze cognitive load and physiological strain to optimize human-system integration. Our process respects the biological limits of the crew, maximizing endurance and reducing the risk of operational error.

Prototyping & VR Validation

Our dual prototyping process: We utilize mid-fidelity physical prototypes and VR simulations to test interactions in a safe, repeatable digital environment. This allows for iterative design improvements with less materials before capital-intensive production begins.

Industrial Design

We design the physical touchpoints that astronauts interact with throughout the mission, integrating insights from a literature review, material advancements, and manufacturing techniques.

Mission Visualizations

We communicate the viability of complex aerospace projects through 3D functional modeling and animations. We turn abstract engineering concepts into tangible assets for capital raises and contract bids.

Our visual systems approach supports your aerospace program at every stage, from conceptual design to mission-ready deployment. We provide the visual clarity needed to submit government contracts, satisfy safety boards, and validate the technical vision for your stakeholders.
